Training sessions and consultations
Payment assumes agreement to and understanding of the following points:
1. Tarka dog training behaviour consultants are certified through the ABTC and KPA and I adhere to their codes of conduct. No aversive training tools or punishments will be used to suppress behaviour. You agree to follow the guidance of your behaviour consultant for best results and optimal welfare for your dog.
2. Although we have a high success rate from training and behaviour work with clients, we cannot guarantee outcomes or timelines for every dog and care giver.
3. The care giver accepts that every dog is different, and it is difficult to guarantee how many sessions will be required. We will discuss this with you and monitor progress.
4. Outcomes from training and behaviour plans are dependent on many factors including commitment form the care giver.
5. On occasion we may require a referral back to your vet to rule out medical factors impacting behaviour. We may also request medical history from your veterinary practice. This is to ensure optimal results from a behaviour and training plan.
6. It is your responsibility to follow any training and management plans and to keep your own dog and others safe in public, we may make recommendations regarding leads and muzzles on a case-by-case basis.
7. The behaviour consultant will apply personal judgement and reserves the right to cut a session short in the event your dog is not coping or the weather effects training or dog welfare.
8. In some cases, we use stooge dogs to aid training. You will be responsible for keeping your dog a sufficient and safe distance from the stooge dog and if asked will need your dog to wear a muzzle during these sessions. We can also assist in muzzle training.
9. You agree to keep in contact about your dog's progress via email or your chosen contact method. You may be asked to send videos if it is safe to record or you have another person to record you working with your dog.
10. Dogs must be kept under control when we are entering your premises if they are anxious of people, often we will meet outside if this is the case,
it may be requested that your dog is on a lead or behind a stair gate or muzzled.
11. You agree to follow the management and training advice offered and we cannot accept responsibility for any incidents which occur when our advice has not been followed.
12. Tarka dog training is fully insured by pet business insurance. However, you will not be covered if you have failed to follow advice or use the correct equipment.
13. We reserve the right to cancel our agreement if management and training advice is not being followed or if we feel your dog is not responding to behavioural intervention. We may refer back to you vet or veterinary behaviourist.
14. Dog waste is the responsibility of the care giver to pick up and take away/dispose of during sessions.
15. We are happy for children to be present during training sessions but not during a reactive dog training set up.
If we have given the ok for a young person to be present they remain the responsibility of the parent/carer and may not handle the dog or lead due to insurance purposes.
